Purpose of the Role
Join the Technical Conformity team as a Technician to work within the Environmental and Propulsion test team who will be responsible for the preparation of vehicles and equipment for testing to global legally required standards. The Environmental and propulsion test team are based in a new state of the art test facility commissioned in 2021 at the Bentley Motors campus in Crewe. Reporting into the Functional Manager responsibilities Include: 

 

  • Preparing vehicles for a range of test activities including hardware and software specification comparison and fault diagnosis
  • Performing vehicle testing both within the test facility and on public roads to a repeatable high standard
  • Working as part of a team to deliver a tightly time controlled daily test plan
  • Working with complex instructions, following, supporting the creation and continuously improving operational process’ 
  • Preparing and monitoring measurement equipment for High voltage and or PHEV vehicles
  • Analysis and tracking of test results to ensure quality of measurements taken
  • Performing Maintenance & Service, Calibrations and record keeping of all associated test equipment
  • Fault finding of test equipment including recording and tracking of data.
  • Maintain records of test results and laboratory documentation in line with Bentley and VW group process’ 
  • Work flexibly and within a multi- shift environment

 

About the Team

The Environmental and Propulsion Test team are part of the R&D Technical conformity function.

Responsible for delivering a wide range of tests, from very early stage prototype vehicles through to customer vehicles just before they are released for sale.

Support the vehicle development through all stages of its conception to release.

You will get the chance to work with state of the art equipment, processes and industry leading experts to deliver an exceptional product.

The function is able to provide a resource in Crewe, retaining and building the  knowledgebase at Crewe and reducing the need to move vehicles globally to develop and validate our products.

 

About you – Skills and Experience

The successful candidate must be able to work confidently with everyone involved in the testing process and be able to adapt and thrive in a busy, dynamic environment while maintaining the expected level of quality and attention to detail.

It is essential that the candidate can work effectively in a team with exceptional communication skills both verbally and when sharing complex information.

  • You will have proven experience with vehicle fault diagnosis and resolution
  • You will have an awareness of the Emissions and range testing process
  • Proven experience working with High voltage and or PHEV vehicles
  • Experience using diagnostic tools such as ODIS, INCA or similar
  • You will have experience with the Calibration and basic maintenance of emissions analysers or similar equipment
  • Ability to show personal development within a technical environment through the undertaking of personal and professional development activities
  • Hold a full drivers licence
  • Experience working with VW group vehicles is advantageous but not essential
