About the role:
As an Industrial Placement Student at Bentley, you will play a key part in Bentley’s journey to creating extraordinary vehicles for our customers. Based out of our state-of-the-art headquarters in Crewe, you will:
- Gain experience managing high impact procurement projects,
- Have opportunities to contribute to Bentley’s strategic purchasing initiatives,
- Gain exposure to cutting-edge procurement technology and systems,
- Have mentorship from industry leading professionals,
- Be given the chance to pitch implement your own ideas within the team.
Your main responsibilities include:
- Project Purchasing: Support end-to-end procurement for major projects, ensuring timely delivery and cost optimisation,
- Commodities Management: Analyse market trends, negotiate contracts, and mange supplier relationships for key commodities,
- General Purchase: Handle day to day purchasing activities, process purchase orders, and resolve queries with internal stakeholders,
- System Process: Maintain and improve procurement systems, ensure compliance with company policies, and contribute to process improvement initiatives,
- Supplier Management: Evaluate supplier performance, conduct audits, and support supplier development programmes to ensure quality and reliability.
About the Department:
The Procurement Department at Bentley is responsible for driving strategies that support corporate objectives across Projects, Commodities, General Purchase, systems and Process, and Supplier Management. You will learn to:
- Optimise procurement efficiency and streamline business processes,
- Gain insight into strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, and risk management,
- Experience hands on project management and exposure to global supply chains,
- Work with expert colleagues and receive mentorship in procurement best practices,
- Participate in Bentley’s training and development programmes, preparing for fast paced career in purchasing and supply management.
What we are looking for:
The successful candidates will be on track to achieve a 2:1 in the following degrees: Business Management, Supply Chain Management, Economics, Engineering, Maths, Law and related fields (degrees that demonstrate analytical, problem solving, and negotiation skills are highly valued).
Skills required for the role:
- Relevant modules (e.g. procurement, logistics, Project management),
- Experience in customer facing or commercial roles,
- Involvement in extracurricular activities (e.g. student societies, volunteering),
- Demonstrated skills in data analysis, negotiation and teamwork,
- Commitment to diversity and inclusion in the selection process.
