As part of Bentley’s annual Early Careers intake, you’ll join a community of around 250 trainees including Industrial Placements, Graduates, and Apprentices.

About the role:

As an Industrial Placement Student at Bentley, you will play a key part in Bentley’s journey to creating extraordinary vehicles for our customers. Based out of our state-of-the-art headquarters in Crewe, you will:

  • Drive the business to deliver Bentley’s long term value,
  • Work collaboratively across the business,
  • Engage, simplify and drive digital transformation to sustain value growth,
  • Gain real life experience to elevate your career journey in Finance.

 

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with the Finance team to support month, quarter, and year-end close activities,
  • Managing monthly budget review meetings with functional budget holders, assist with current year forecast reporting, provide support during the 2027 budget process, and oversea finance management tasks such as reporting, forecasting, and analysis,
  • Supporting project delivery teams to ensure new car projects meet financial targets, attend project meetings to advise on financial topics, and collaborate with the team to produce the long-term business plan,
  • Driving and supporting ongoing process improvement programs and help improve finance processes and systems to make reporting more accurate and efficient,
  • Working closely with various business teams to support financial topics and ensure effective communication and collaboration across departments.

There are three Industrial Placements available which will support the function, examples of the departments in Finance you may be getting involved in during your placement are as follows:

 

Finance Accounting:

In this role you will gain exposure to the various compliance requirements of a large complex organisation, develop your knowledge of accounting and periodic reporting, whilst collaborating and working alongside industry leading experts who will be supporting you on your career journey.

 

Business Planning:

The role sits within the Financial Planning team; we are responsible for ensuring the business transforms financial targets into an actionable business plan. You will gain invaluable experience working on high impact projects and contributing to key financial processes to support the strategic aims of the business, whilst working alongside and being mentored by finance professionals.

 

Finance Sales & Marketing:

Working within the Sales and Marketing team you will gain invaluable experience working alongside finance professionals and being mentored by the Head of Finance.  You will get an insight into a variety of Business Partnering roles, how finance control activities, and influence business owners to meet Bentley’s finance targets.

 

Finance Engineering:

Working within the Engineering team you will gain invaluable experience working alongside the Senior Finance Manager and Engineering budget holders. The team are responsible for managing all Intercompany Finance matters ranging from payments for shared development to long term contracts for parts supply.

 

Finance Project Controlling:

Project Controlling forms a major part of the total Finance function. In this role you will work cross functionally with all areas of the business, analyse, question and understand real life data – from sales revenues to unit cost to investment and expected returns – a real life spin on what you’ve studied so far.

 

What we are looking for:

The successful candidates will be on track to achieve a 2:1 in the following degrees: Accounting & Finance, or a business-related degree and be considering post graduate accounting qualifications e.g. CIMA.

 Skills required for the role:

  • Communication skills,
  • Good time and project management skills,
  • Team working skills,
  • Proficient in Microsoft programmes including Excel,
  • Work experience in a Business-related environment is desired but not essential.
