Purpose of the Role
Join Technical Conformity as the Head of Product Legislation, where you will lead and oversee all product legislation requirements, ensuring global compliance. In this pivotal role you will be interpreting evolving legislation, communicate changes across the business, and represent Bentley in technical lobbying to support future product success. This will play a critical role in advancing our Beyond100+ strategic objectives. Reporting into the Director – Technical Conformity, responsibilities include;
- To ensure new and changed product regulations are communicated to relevant business areas
- Develop Bentley interpretation for ambiguous or unclear legislation
- Lead technical lobbying activities with Authorities, Technical Services and VW Group partners to mitigate business risk
- Integrate all product regulatory requirements across Bentley business areas and Product lines
- Ensure team’s future readiness by identifying new requirements early, promoting risk awareness and ownership and develop strategic plans to address

- Demonstrate strong leadership by articulating a clear vision and empowering the team to achieve shared goals
- Monitor the implementation of Material and Chemical Substance restrictions in vehicle development

Engineering Technical Conformity plays a vital role in ensuring every Bentley vehicle meets the highest standards of compliance with applicable legislation, paving the way for their successful market entry. Beyond this, we protect both our customers and the prestigious Bentley brand by proactively identifying and preventing design and development errors from becoming impactful, ensuring a flawless experience every time.
About you – Skills and Experience
- A Degree in a relevant discipline or relevant demonstrable experience
- Demonstrable experience of relevant laws, regulations, and core industry standards including working with regulatory bodies, preferably in an automotive environment
- Ability to influence senior leadership and advocate for key legislative priorities
- Understanding of product lifecycle management and how compliance fits into each stage
- Proven expertise in motivating, coaching, and managing teams across diverse situations, driving high performance and professional growth
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities whilst ensuring successful delivery of high-quality results on time and within budget
