Purpose of the Role
Join the Exterior Mechatronics team within Body & Trim as the Functional Manager – Door and Roof Systems where you'll be responsible for leading, managing and developing the team to deliver technical and business objectives and play a pivotal role in driving forward the Beyond100 strategy. Reporting into the Head of Exteriors your main responsibilities include;

  • Manage and lead a team to deliver technical solutions in their field of expertise; accountable for benchmarking and target setting, delivery of targets, collation and presentation of data, leading problem resolution, project/product planning and budget management
  • Establish and develop effective team strategy; organise/structure design, manage all resourcing activities, develop team strategies, develop relationships with VW Group colleagues and counterparts
  • Manage team and prioritise tasks; cascade business objectives, monitor KPI’s, support and guide technical development of systems/technologies, manage team budgets, manage and prioritise team tasks and activities, lead and represent in cross functional forums, influence product development towards objectives, manage team performance and personal development
  • Developing own and teams specialist technical capability; encourage, train and support the team, assist and coach in all aspects of engineering processes and principles

 

 

About the Team
The Exterior & Mechatronics Department within Body & Trim are responsible for the design, development, validation and sign off of all Exterior Systems including door function, front & rear operation, roof systems, bumper & grille assemblies, climate control plus all other add-on exterior components across all Bentley car lines.

 

About you – Skills and Experience

The successful applicant will be a proven automotive technical team manager with ability to communicate effectively cross functionally and present in forums up to Board level. Your experience will have an engineering bias (ideally electro mechanical) and you will be a natural problem solver that can manage time and task priorities for both yourself and your team.

  • Demonstrable experience as a people manager with strong leadership skills
  • Previous experience of automotive product development in exterior hardware systems
  • Strong business awareness with the ability to influence decisions cross functionally, coupled with excellent communication skills
  • Previous experience demonstrating project and people KPI planning and monitoring as well as resource planning
  • Project and budget management/forecasting skills
