Purpose of the Role
Join the Technical Conformity – Powertrain Certification team as a Powertrain Certification Engineer, where you’ll be responsible for the timely coordination, reporting, and successful delivery of powertrain certification projects.

In this pivotal role, you will also support the team with documentation updates and technical activities related to certification vehicles. The position may involve supervising vehicle testing in the UK or abroad, and experience with vehicle diagnostics would be advantageous.

This role requires cross-functional collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders, including customers and suppliers. Therefore, enthusiasm, punctuality, effective communication skills, resilience, and a strong drive for results are essential. Reporting to the Functional Manager – Powertrain Certification, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting documentation updates and technical activities on certification vehicles
  • Delivering compliance-related topics
  • Maintaining, updating, and improving team processes
  • Solving complex engineering problems
  • Analysing and managing powertrain related hardware and software change impact
  • Developing and maintaining specialist knowledge in your area

 

About the Team
The Technical Conformity – Powertrain Certification team is responsible for securing powertrain-related certification approvals for all Bentley products globally. This includes tailpipe emissions, evaporative emissions, fuel economy, electric range, and OBD compliance. The team works closely with certification partners in North America, China and South Korea, and is also responsible for emissions strategy documentation delivery for all global markets.

 

About you – Skills and Experience

A real team collaborator, the ideal candidate will be an engineer with experience in a certification or vehicle testing environment with strong technical background. Or have background in quality or compliance. You will be a strong communicator, self-starter and capable of working effectively across all levels of the organisation, with Volkswagen Group partners, and with external agencies to meet key objectives.

  • Understanding of vehicle testing requirements and procedures
  • Proven ability to solve complex engineering problems and analyse design issues
  • Experience planning, monitoring, and expediting tests in collaboration with VW Group and external suppliers
  • Proficiency in data management and analysis to support reporting and design guidelines
  • An engineering degree or equivalent experience
  • Excellent communication skills, resilience, and a results-driven mindset
