Purpose of the Role
Join the Vehicle Motion – Electronics & Software team as the Engineer – Motion Electronics & Software where you'll collaborate with the Functional Manager to deliver our product ambitions and to shape our Beyond100+ strategy. This role will be responsible for the integration of all of motion software and computing system electronics within the electro-mechanical vehicle architecture for the full Bentley product range. Reporting into the Functional Manager – Motion Electronics & Software your main responsibilities include;
- Provide interface and transfer of requirements between the internal stakeholders and the relevant software development and release Engineers
- Interface with VW Group counterparts to understand system and define Bentley specific requirements
- Define and perform system test plans, data logging and analysis focussed on confirm successful integration within the specific vehicle environment
- Ensure adherence to relevant legislation including ISO26262 safety goals and Cybersecurity
- Perform integration, calibration and verification of central functions owned by home department
- Liaise with appropriate Engineering focal points for Production and Service diagnostics to confirm integration with relevant IT systems
About the Team
Part of the Research and Development team’s Motion Electronics and Software department, this role is responsible for development of Engine, Transmission and Electric Vehicle propulsion electronic hardware and software to support Bentley’s product portfolio of vehicle models and motion variants.
About you – Skills and Experience
The successful applicant will be a Software Integration / Mechatronics Engineer with experience of cross department or company collaboration, aimed at synchronised delivery of a multi stakeholder systems to achieve the ultimate customer release. You will be from a background of Automotive, Transport, Aerospace, Submarine or Aircraft Engineering. An engineering degree (Mechatronics/Software) or equivalent experience is required for the role or equivalent relevant experience.
- Software development and System calibration knowledge e.g. engines, motors, transmissions, steering, etc
- Project Management / planning with excellent communication skills across all levels of the business
- Strong process discipline, development of own KPI’s to manage progress and quality
- Excellent at collaboration, working cross-functionally across the business
- Ability to lead complex problem solving investigations
