About the role

Bentley Research and Development team are seeking a Driver Assistance Engineer to join the business on a permanent basis at our Crewe campus (hybrid working options available). Reporting to the Functional Manager Driver Assistance, the DAS Engineer will be responsible for the mechanical and electrical integration, calibration and validation of platform developed driver assistance systems and their components onto Bentley products.


The Driver Assistance Systems team are an integral part of the Motion department within R&D at Crewe.  They are responsible for bringing the Bentley DAS system requirements to life in our products. The team are responsible for the systems integration through following development processes, calibration guidelines, and defined validation catalogues. Ultimately ensuring the systems offered deliver a luxury and seamless experience for the end customer and value to the Bentley product offering, whilst meeting all legislative requirements.


Responsibilities include:

  • Interface with VW Group counterparts to understand system and its operation in order to define Bentley specific requirements.
  • Technical input into the mechanical packaging of DAS sensors and other components.
  • Utilise technical understanding of system to ensure robust system integration onto vehicle architecture.
  • Calibrate function to meet or exceed attribute targets.
  • Define and carry out system test plans.
  • Manage suppliers in their delivery of up and downstream activities.
  • Keep abreast of Group and external technical roadmaps.
  • Report on project status to management.
  • Flexibility for significant travel to support testing.


 About the person

The successful applicant will preferably have experience gained from automotive, aero or similar industry. Driver Assistance System experience is desired. A systems engineering or V cycle approach would be advantageous. You will have excellent communication and influencing skills that can show examples of problem solving in a complex environment. You will ideally have experience in working on the integration of complex systems. As a function we are able to support a developing candidate with the right atitude and approach should they have the necessary skill requirements.

  • Project and Supplier Management
  • Experience of test plan development, completion and recording
  • Data logging, management and analysis experience.
  • A Clean driving license
  • Effective time management skills
  • A keen interest and proactive approach to developing technical knowledge
