A LOOK INSIDE BENTLEY'S WORK EXPERIENCE WEEK- JULY 2025
From 8th–11th July 2025, Bentley Motors welcomed a group of enthusiastic students into its headquarters in Crewe for their annual work experience programme. The initiative gave young people a chance to explore the inner workings of a world-renowned luxury automotive brand, gaining valuable insights into the various departments that make Bentley unique- from HR and Marketing to Design, Engineering and Production.
We spoke with two of this year’s work experience students, Tyonney and Grace, about why they applied, what they learned, and their advice for future participants.
Why Bentley?
For Tyonney, the decision to apply to Bentley was driven by the company’s values:
“What attracted me to do work experience with Bentley was their strong commitment to diversity and inclusion, which really aligns with my own values,” she explained. “On top of that, the chance to gain insight into the culture of such a prestigious name in motorsport and luxury was a unique opportunity. I knew working with experienced professionals at Bentley would help me grow and stand out in a competitive industry.”
Grace, on the other hand, was drawn by a long-standing interest in Bentley’s cars and a desire to understand how a global business like Bentley operates behind the scenes.
“I have always had an interest in their cars and I am very passionate about the different business-oriented areas of companies,” she said. “I wanted to learn more about how they operate at Bentley Motors.”
Highlights of the Week
The week was packed with activities, from department tours and guest speaker sessions to team projects and career development workshops.
For Grace, the factory tour stood out as a clear highlight:
“Getting to see how the Bentley cars were built in such detail was an incredible and exclusive experience.”
Tyonney also found the tours inspiring, especially in how they showcased the collaboration between teams:
“The factory and Mulliner tours helped me see how each department’s work across Bentley contributes to one shared goal,” she shared. “Hearing from the Industrial Placement students was also an integral part of the experience, giving honest insights into their daily roles and sharing valuable advice.”
She also appreciated learning about Human Resources, a field she hadn’t previously considered:
“I was especially surprised by how much happens within HR, from contracts and talent progression to CV and LinkedIn sessions. The team’s passion really stood out and showed me how strong and supportive Bentley’s culture is.”
Shaping Future Aspirations
One of the key goals of Bentley’s work experience programme is to help young people build confidence in their career paths, and for both Tyonney and Grace, the week delivered exactly that.
“Learning so much about HR gave me the clarity to consider it as a possible path,” said Tyonney. “Hearing from placement students with different academic backgrounds reassured me that there’s no single route to success. The sessions on recruitment, CVs, cover letters, and interviews boosted my confidence and gave me practical advice to move forward.”
Grace echoed this sentiment:
“Bentley has hugely impacted my future career aspirations, because I now have a better understanding of what each department does and how their role impacts the company.”
Advice for Future Participants
We asked both students what advice they would give to others considering the programme in future.
Tyonney encouraged students to dive in fully:
“Get involved as much as you can, talk to your managers, ask questions, and don’t be afraid to interact with your cohort. The group projects are a great way to connect with others and ease any nerves. Make the most of the tours and take notes, it really helps when reflecting later. Most importantly, enjoy it, because it goes by so quickly.”
Grace added:
“Never hold back on asking questions, because that is how you can get the most out of this experience.”
A special thank you to all the Bentley colleagues that helped to host this years work experience, Mulliner and Manufacturing tours, networking and team building sessions and CV / Interview workshops!
