25 YEARS OF ISO 14001
Today, we mark an impressive milestone: 25 years of ISO 14001 environmental certification. To celebrate this achievement, we are planting 25 trees at our Crewe headquarters, symbolising our ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility.
What is ISO 14001?
ISO 14001 is a globally recognised standard that shapes how companies manage and improve their environmental impact through a structured Environmental Management System (EMS). At its core, ISO 14001 challenges organisations to continually enhance their environmental practices, meet compliance obligations, and actively manage risks and opportunities in sustainability. For Bentley, this standard underpins everything we do to reduce waste, minimise energy and water use, and prioritise recycling and biodiversity across our operations.
Bentley's Journey with ISO 14001
In 1999, Bentley became the first automotive plant to achieve ISO 14001 certification, making us one of the longest-standing examples of environmental best practice within the automotive industry. Since then, we have been reaccredited multiple times under the latest standards, continually pushing the boundaries of sustainable luxury.
ISO 14001 has been instrumental in Bentley’s journey to reduce environmental impact and enhance operational efficiencies. This commitment is evident in our ongoing investments, such as:
Introducing efficient water and energy systems, including rainwater harvesting, and reduced energy consumption throughout our production processes.
Maximising recycling efforts and reducing waste, with a focus on promoting biodiversity around our facilities.
Our tree-planting event at Crewe symbolises our dedication to the next 25 years of environmental excellence. There were 25 trees planted in total: 15 oak, five silver birch, and five ash, each being 2-3M tall. 21 of these trees were planted along Pyms Lane and four at CW1 house.
