About the role

We are seeking a Technical Manager, Aeroacoustics and NVH Simulators to join the business on a permanent basis at our Crewe site. Reporting to the Head of Whole Vehicle Physics, the Technical Manager, Aeroacoustics and NVH Simulators will be responsible for leading the attribute performance development and delivery of current model lines and development of new experiences for future model lines. The Technical Manager Aero-acoustics & NVH SiM will have responsibility for leading the technical delivery of the whole vehicle Aero-acoustic attribute target performance, on time and within budget, in collaboration with internal and external business partners.

The Whole Vehicle - Acoustics Team are responsible for the delivery of all NVH attributes across the entire Bentley portfolio. The refinement of Bentley products has always been one of our key class-leading attributes, highly sought-after and valued by our customers. 


Responsibilities will include:

  • Technical management of the Aero-acoustic attribute including attribute delivery road map definition, physical development testing, aero-acoustic simulation – integration with Aerodynamics for simulation model build, meshing and aero buck development
  • Management and integration of the Bentley VI grade/HBK static NVH simulator project activities, management of outsource partner, integration of masking noise, powertrain noise, sound quality and ride comfort to deliver benchmarking assessment and target setting with other Technical Managers for the various attribute
  • Technical management of the NVH simulator masking noise decomposition (e.g. aero-acoustic and road noise masking)
  • Setting and delivery of subjective and objective aero-acoustic attribute targets, definition of system acoustic targets, performing relevant objective and subjective acoustic assessments of systems
  • Development of new processes and methodologies to enhance Whole Vehicle – Acoustics capability and competence
  • Technical management of engineers to delivery attribute/project activities


About the person

The successful candidate will be an established Acoustics Technical Manager/Senior Engineer with proven ability to balance different sound sources in the vehicle to deliver Best in Class customer requirements. You will have experience in aero-acoustic development from concept to launch (preferably with development experience of exterior shape development, sealing system and body hardware by both simulation and physical testing). You will have excellent communication skills to collaborate and deliver results to a range of business functions and stake-holders and be looking to enhance your skills in a dedicated acoustics environment.


 The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Experience in acoustic data acquisition and analysis techniques
  • Acoustic simulation experience
  • Subjective evaluation skills, jury evaluation studies
  • Product Development experience
  • Ability to plan, organise, prioritise and manage multiple task and deliver within project constraints
  • A degree in acoustics or equivalent experience
