About the Role

We are seeking a Technical Zone Lead to join the business on a permanent basis, at our Crewe site. As a Technical Zone Lead within the Launch Quality Centre you will be responsible for problem solving from the very start of pre-production builds through to the end of life - ensuring that manufacturing targets are achieved in relation to quality, cost and delivery.

 

The Launch Quality Centre spans much of a vehicle’s product cycle; influencing early product design, through to building pre-series vehicles and on to problem solving until end of life.  It is responsible for driving launch performance and series improvements.

 

Manufacturing is undergoing a step change led by our colleagues at all levels. To support our target picture, a 5 year strategic programme named ‘WINGS’ driving 4 key topics: Operational Excellence, Customer Enthusiasm, Extraordinary People and Dream Factory. We’re looking for innovative thinkers, capable of taking extreme ownership to deliver extraordinary journeys for our customers, and to achieve our ambitions for the future to become the benchmark for luxury car production.

 

You will be responsible for -

  • Leading cross-functional teams to contain, manage and resolve problems within a specific zone.
  • Resolving problems through structured problem solving processes (8D, DMAIC).
  • Conducting analysis of complex systems using six sigma tools.
  • Organising, managing and conducting validation activities.
  • Influencing product concept, style and part design through preventing re-occurrence and lessons learnt.
  • Identifying and implementing improvements to support manufacturing targets and KPIs.
  • Carrying out benchmarking and identifying best practice.

 
About the Person
The successful application will be a Manufacturing Engineer/Manager/Zone Lead who is highly passionate about leading the delivery of quality within the Launch Quality Centre.
 

Skills and experience required:

  • Strong influencing skills and communication, with a commitment to build positive relationships with other functions and Group as an outward facing expert.
  • Ability to share technical knowledge effectively with others, coach and guide as appropriate.
  • Leading cross-functional teams and activities to achieve business objectives.
  • Relevant automotive experience in a role directly related to analysis and problem solving within a Manufacturing or Engineering environment (similar experience within associated industries considered).
  • Experience of developing and launching new products.
  • Understanding of vehicle assembly techniques and practices.
  • Experience of problems solving tools and techniques such as 8D, DMAIC, CAD (CATIA), tolerance analysis.
  • Good business awareness and ability to make and influence strategic decisions within business context.
