About the Role

We are seeking a Suspension & Tyres Engineer to join the business on a permanent basis, at our Crewe campus (with hybrid working). Reporting to the Functional Manager, the Suspension and Tyres Engineer will be responsible for the development and validation, project reporting and delivery of tasks within chassis systems relating to Vertical Dynamics (tyres, spring, Damper, ARB, etc.) and wheel guide (subframe, levers, bushes & mounts).


The role sits within our Vehicle Motion team who are responsible for Chassis hardware. These are all safety critical systems & components both unique to Bentley & platform technology from VW group.


Responsibilities include:

  • Plan, design and deliver the Bentley suspension (springs and dampers, axle bushes, motor mounting, roll bars) and tyre components and systems that meet the requirements 
  • Define the specifications, design, test and validation plan to achieve the performances, cost, weight, timing and quality targets for the project.
  • Achieve the engineering sign-off for systems and components in area of responsibility


About the Person

The successful applicant will be a Suspension / Tyres Engineer will have previous experience in a similar role in the automotive/engineering (mass-market / small volume OEMs or large chassis supplier) or motorsport industries. You will be a good team player that can work well cross functionally with good communication and influencing skills and will have the ability to interpret measurement and simulation technical data. An Engineering Degree or equivalent experience is required.


You will demonstrate:

  • Knowledge and experience of designing and developing suspension and tyres from concept to final sign-off, knowledge of Chassis systems and technologies
  • Ability to conduct DFMEA, plan and manage components and vehicle validations
  • Knowledge of metal & elastomeric components design & material science, NVH, vehicle dynamics, kinematics & mechatronics
  • Ability to read and generate Engineering Drawings and 3D Models using CATIA V5, understand and define engineering specifications, material standards, certification requirements
