ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking an Electrical Test Planning Engineer to join us on a permanent basis at our Crewe campus. Reporting to the Functional Manager, the Electrical Test Planning Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the development and delivery of detailed test planning requirement, specification, authoring & validation as required by project and product development
Responsibilities include:
- Responsible for the identification, development & validation of test sequences (within takt) for all project and Model-Year programmes, including Continuous Improvement Project (CIP) activities.
- Responsible for the planning, delivery of all electrical inputs to ensure Pre-Series/Series electrical success
- Responsible for identification of Jig, Fixture and Tooling requirements, ensuring timely procurement, commissioning and validation for new items.
- Compilation and coordination of responses to Business requirements, e.g. Technical Product Descriptions (TPD) and Change Requests from Platform (AEKO), Engineering (ECR), and Cost Optimisation (PKO), etc.
- Work in close conjunction with other areas of production planning (launch and facilities) to ensure a consolidated approach and the continuous development of effective and efficient ways of working.
- Process completion including validation and analysis.
- Understands how all systems interact and their architecture including PRODIS. systems, wireless MFT’s UPS server/ architecture, IP addresses etc. Ensuring the interfaces to FIS channels, online FIS channels, Wheel Alignment Machines (WAM), Rolling Road, Fluid Fill, Integrated Communication Systems (ICS) are supported.
About the Function
The HV & Electrical Planning department (PPMF) are responsible for the specification, validation & verification of the electrical test system software, which is developed by an in-house team. PPMF is also responsible for the support of Pre-Series and Series builds across the whole of Manufacturing, with specialist knowledge of the vehicle electrical systems, assisting with fault diagnosis on vehicles and raising concerns with the respective departments.
About the Person
The successful applicant will be in a similar role looking to utilise their skills in a different capacity. Ideally you will have a background in the Automotive industry, although applicants form similar industries will be considered. You will demonstrate:
- Logical approach to problem identification and solving, concern identification and resolution experience.
- Knowledge and experience of production-based electrical test equipment(including workshop equipment VAS, Diagra, CANalyser, CANoE)
- Ability to integrate Diagnostic CAN logs and identify potential cause of electrical concerns.
- Computer literate with good technical skills (Appreciation of computer programming & software packages & languages, i.e. SQL database)
- Electrical harness drawings/Schaltplan knowledge
- HND/Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering or IT related subject or equivalent proven experience in automotive electrical testing
