ABOUT THE ROLE
As Corporate Counsel you’ll develop relationships across all levels of management within Bentley and the VW Group. Our Corporate Counsel will identify training needs across the functions, educating colleagues, improving processes and protecting the company,
We’re excited to say that this role is a newly created role which will be tasked with providing legal guidance to evolving areas within Bentley, to include but not limited to Connected Car, as we continue to focus on increasing our digital services.
This position will report to the General Counsel and will have the responsibility of undertaking a range of legal work, working largely independently within the framework of the Legal department to minimise the legal risks faced by the company wherever possible.
MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Providing legal advice and assistance across the business and providing a legal perspective on business issues
- Preparing and negotiating contracts to protect the company and reduce risk
- Managing legal proceedings against the company, engaging external lawyers as required
- Supporting the Data Protection Officer in negotiation of data processing agreements
- Providing advice and assistance in respect of insurance issues
- Managing insurance claims
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
The successful candidate will have 4+ years PQE experience within a law firm or as in-house counsel.
- An England and Wales qualified Solicitor, Legal Executive or Barrister
- Excellent legal and strategic judgement and the ability to establish trusted relationships, exert influence, communicating clearly and effectively
- Experience in identifying and advising on regulatory and contractual obligations relating to IT, Cyber Security, information handling and personal data protection
- Experience reviewing, negotiating and advising on IT/Technology and software contracts, to identify and mitigate risks
