About the Role

Bentley Motors are seeking a Buyer to join the business on a permanent basis at our Crewe site (flexible/remote working initially under current guidelines). Reporting to the Commodity Leader, the Buyer is responsible for contributing towards cost down, total cost optimisation, quality and delivery improvements. Additionally, the Buyer will source components for current and future vehicle variants in line with pre-determined cost and timing targets.

 

We currently have 5 positions available.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the full procurement life cycle, utilising robust and objective forward/global sourcing processes and working with budget holders to meet commercial objectives in a cost and time sensitive manner
  • Leading the tender process to select suppliers through the review of capability, cost, quality and sustainability measures. Monitor supplier performance to ensure business continuity
  • Driving cost discipline back into the business through early supplier engagement, design to cost and hidden cost initiatives in the infancy stages of new programmes, delivering against key measures of success including material cost reduction, tooling investment, purchase price variance and project targets
  • Representing the purchasing department in cross departmental meetings and across the VW Group, ensuring compliance to the procurement process and recommending improvements to processes and ways of working to maximise efficiencies

 

About the Person

The successful candidate will be an established Buyer, Procurement or Purchasing candidate working in a commercial or manufacturing environment with ownership of the procurement process within a defined category. The ideal candidate will have automotive or OEM experience and be familiar with vehicle commodity attributes.  

 

You will demonstrate:  

  • Experience of supplier management including supplier selection, contract negotiation and supplier performance
  • Experience of delivering against key metrics and critical paths
  • Ability to communicate and influence a broad range of stakeholders
  • Delivery focussed with a collaborative approach towards internal stakeholders, supply partners and global VW Group colleagues
  • Automotive experience combined with the CIPS qualification would be advantageous
