About the Role

We are seeking a Technical Manager Driver Assistance Systems to join our DAS & Chassis Mechatronics Team within the Engineering Department. Reporting to the Head of Chassis Mechatronics the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining specialist technical and business knowledge and capability, to ensure appropriate technical direction is provided.


The Driver Assistance Systems team are an integral part of the Chassis Engineering department at Crewe.  They are responsible for the definition of Bentley DAS system requirements from the group platform system toolkit in order to meet the project performance target positioning.  Responsible for the systems from implementation through development / calibration and validation, ensuring we meet the changing legislative requirements within the project timing.  Ultimately ensuring the systems offered deliver a seamless experience for the end customer and value to the Bentley product offering.


The key responsibilities:  

  • Responsible for the overall Functional Safety plans for DAS team and interfacing with the safety manager to ensure completion in line with the individual project requirements.
  • Making recommendations and effective presentations to the business in area of technical specialism, with the ability to explain and break down technical detail/direction.
  • Leading on technical direction, being an expert and a point of contact for the engineers.
  • Working and liaising with the Group partners to ensure the most appropriate use of Group platform technologies.


About the Person

The successful candidate will have extensive previous experience in a Driver Assistance Systems development role and will provide expert knowledge and practical experiences to define and shape the future Driver Assistance Systems for Bentley. Proposing strategic solutions that leverage the best for Bentley vehicle attributes from the technology offering of our wider group platform developers.


You will demonstrate: 

  • Experience of Driver Assistance Systems software calibration and application.
  • An understanding and application of all required sign off legislative and environmental requirements relating to Driver Assistance Systems
  • Understanding of an automotive product emergence process and cycle plans.
  • Strong technical skills in driver assistance field and the ability to share technical knowledge effectively with others, coach and guide.
  • KPI management and the ability to define a set of department KPI’s in order to demonstrate department status on demand.
  • The ability to effectively present and communicate at all levels, with a commitment to build positive relationships with other functions and departments
  • German language advantageous
