About the role

We are seeking a Supplier Manager to join the business on a permanent basis at our Crewe campus-the world’s first carbon neutral Automotive site (hybrid working is available). Reporting to the Senior Supplier Manager, the Supplier Manager will oversee critical suppliers ensuring application of supplier excellence is achieved and continuity of supply for all current and future production models is maintained.


This role sits within our wider Purchasing team- there has never been a more interesting time to enter the world of Purchasing! New materials, new technologies and innovative products combine with new imperatives, such as end-to-end sustainability, environmental logistics and carbon neutrality. Purchasing is the key to embracing all of this, the gateway to Bentley’s future-facing vision. We have six purchasing teams – Connectivity, Interior, Exterior, Metals and Powertrain, Purchase Projects and General Purchase – each responsible for different elements of the car, projects and the Bentley site. This role sits within our Purchase Projects team. 


Key responsibilities include: 

  • Production Readiness and Tooling management process- Assist suppliers with manufacturing feasibility; process planning, capacity planning, facilities preparation and sub-supplier preparation
  • Application of robust problem solving with focus on quality, delivery and lead-time improvement requirements
  • Co-ordinate activities to support cross functional and functional decision making- Operational/Taskforce Support to assure continuity of supply remotely and at critical supplier locations
  • Actively engage in supplier improvement / development initiatives with focus on achieving supplier excellence
  • Proactive Steering and contribution to Supplier Management strategy with focus of application of continuous improvement
  • Provide clear and effective reporting at all levels with focus on business critical KPI metrics


 About the person 

The successful applicant will have experience of working in a role focussed on supplier project management, critical supplier management and supplier development

 You will be an excellent communicator and with strong influencing skills, with the ability to work cross functionally and communicate information to senior and executive management level.

You will demonstrate:

  • Experience within a similar position is a must, with the ability to manage supplier readiness throughout the entire project lifecycle (Project to Series) .
  • Proven experience in systematic Project Management Application (Product and Process readiness & Site Readiness) .
  • Experienced in the application of Lean and Continuous improvement techniques / methodologies.
  • Strong capability in manufacturing processes, capacity and bottleneck analysis.
  • Strong technical knowledge and skills appropriate for the role in applicable manufacturing processes.
  • Experienced in application of robust problem solving methodologies.
  • Experienced in Design and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis & application of APQP.
  • Experienced in supplier development & critical supplier management
