About the Role

We are seeking a Purchasing Project Manager to join the business on a full time permanent basis operating within a hybrid model from our Crewe campus.

Reporting to the Purchase Functional Platform Leader, this is a newly created role to support the delivery of our ambitious Beyond100 strategy. The successful candidate will be a central part of a project team delivering new vehicles from concept to market entry, collaborating with Product Management, Research & Development, Styling & Design, Sales & Marketing, Quality, Manufacturing and Finance, to break new ground with Battery Electric Vehicle products, whilst working in collaboration with Audi and the wider VW Group to create a sustainable supply chain.

 

The Purchasing Project Team ensures a timely completion of deliverables at each milestone for all new projects. They establish a cross brand purchasing strategy to support VW Group strategies at Bentley. They also plan the tooling investment budget, obtain authorization and maintain budgetary control over the investments. A key deliverable for the function is forward sourcing for new projects.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Successful and timely completion of all Purchase deliverables in support of specific projects from concept, through design development, sourcing & capacity installation, quality maturation & into series production.
  • Leading the delivery of strategic objectives and targets, ensuring that they are understood and agreed to by all cross-functional parties and critical VW Group brand partners.
  • Steering supply chain development in support of Bentley’s end to end carbon neutral objective, whilst ensuring project deliverables linked to time, cost and quality are protected, and making effective use of VW Group brand strategies.
  • Management and delivery of Purchase tooling investment budgets through the planning round window for battery electric vehicle products.
  • Building and maintain influential relationships cross functionally and across the VW Group to support delivery.

 

About the person

The successful candidate will be an experienced Project Manager/Project Lead or Development Manager/Lead within a purchasing/sourcing/procurement/buying, manufacturing or engineering discipline with the ability to translate technical requirements into a robust project plan. We are interested in hearing from candidates from the automotive, aerospace, defence, construction and civil engineering industries.  

 

You will demonstrate:

  • Experience of complex project management and delivery combined with the application of problem solving skills.
  • Business acumen and financial management skills with the ability to extract key messages to support the leadership team in decision making.
  • The ability to communicate and build influential, cross functional and cross cultural relationships with a broad range of stakeholders up to and including Director level.
  • German language skills alongside formal project management skills would be advantageous.
