About the Role

We are seeking an Engineer – Safety Electronics to join the business on a Permanent basis, at our Crewe Campus (Hybrid working). Reporting to the Functional Manager – Vehicle Safety Integration, the Engineer – Safety Electronics will have responsibility for Safety Electronics including specification, application, documentation, release, testing and sign-off to meet the Bentley functional and programme requirements.

 

The Vehicle Safety Integration Function are responsible for the delivery of worldwide passive safety requirements within the wider Body & Trim department which delivers interior and exterior execution of the product and are responsible for a wide range of electro-mechanical and Functional Safety relevant systems.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Technical responsibility for Safety Electronics including specification, application, documentation, release, testing and sign-off to meet the Bentley functional and programme requirements
  • Manage suppliers to meet project deliverables
  • Liaise with VW Group colleagues to share knowledge and define future requirements
  • Keep up to date with legislative and technical development in Safety Electronics
  • Provide support to other non-Engineering functions within Bentley for Safety Electronics relevant topics

 

About the Person

The successful applicant will be in an engineering role within the automotive industry with proven ability in safety electronics development preferably within an OEM or alternatively a supplier. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • An Electronics background
  • Good communication skills written and verbal
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience of vehicle communications/architecture (FlexRay, CAN & LIN) and ideally diagnostic tools (VAS/IDEX/ODIS)
  • Coordination and organisation skills
  • Able to work independently to complete validation tasks both on vehicle and labcar showing good problem solving skills
  • Engineering degree with Electronics or Mechatronics or equivalent relevant experience
