Purpose of the Role
Join the CAE & Digital team as the CAE Engineer where you'll provide a liaison between CAE Service Providers and Body & Trim Design functions supporting our Beyond 100 strategy. Reporting into the Functional Manager – CAE & Digital your main responsibilities include;

  • Provide CAE support for problem solving
  • Support and coach CAE service providers to ensure they are delivering their objectives as efficiently as possible
  • Support investigation and adoption / application of new CAE & digital methods to support Body & Trim design activities
  • Deliver and report status for Body & Trim related Digital Prototype Outputs (Crash, Occupant Protection, Static / Dynamic Body Stiffness, Closure Stiffness’s, Pedestrian Impact etc.) as per the Bentley Product Emergence Process

 

About the Team
The position is working within the Body Engineering Team. The team works cross functionally across the whole business, including Production, Project, Design, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, Finance and Electrical Engineering. Working closely with VW Group counterparts to develop body functions, systems and architecture to enable best in class solutions. 

 

 

About you – Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will be in an Engineering role, ideally with experience of CAE principles and its application capability for Body & Trim.

  • Direct analysis experience would be required (i.e. use of LS-DYNA/Pamcrash/Nastran/ANSA/Hyperworks etc)
  • Previous experience of applying CAE to solve complex problems
  • Previous experience of reporting / escalating as required based on CAE outputs
  • Knowledge of CAD & PLM (i.e; use of Catia / Teamcenter / SDM) would be beneficial
  • Exposure to AI/ML technology and automation would be beneficial
  • Automotive experience would beneficial, but would consider other industries with relevant experience
  • General mechanical / mechatronic engineering appreciation
  • An Engineering Degree or equivalent relevant experience
